In Brazil, a law gives the pension benefit to military daughters and widows. But yesterday, a federal judge canceled a pension for one simple reason: she was transsexual.
The Navy breached the benefit after it changed name and sex, from female to male, officially. The decision was brought to court, but there were no contestations.
It was up to the federal judge Frederico Montedonio Rego to maintain the cancellation of the pension. The names of those involved, of course, were not disclosed.
