Germans go to the streets to celebrate on “Christopher Street Day”

Saturday was a party in Berlin. Even from the rain, thousands of people went to the streets to defend LGBT rights in the Christopher Street Day parade.

The parade featured music trucks that enlivened the participants, many in costume and wearing Donald Trump’s mask as a form of protest.

One of the main reasons for celebrating was the approval of legalization of same-sex marriage, where the German parliament received a historic vote and placed Germany alongside countries such as Spain, France and Britain.

Since 1979, the Christopher Street Day parade has been reminiscent of New York riots 10 years earlier when police invaded a gay bar, an event that marked the gay rights movement.
