LGBT Pride Day can be approved today (07) in Rio

The creation of the State Day of Pride and LGBT Citizenship can be definitively approved in last vote, this Tuesday, by the Legislative Assembly of Rio (Alerj). Bill 3,358 / 2010, which was voted on in the first discussion last month, had received 30 votes in favor and 13 votes in favor.

The proposal of Congressman Carlos Minc (no party) aims to reduce violence against homosexuals.

The project was inspired by a survey by Ucam / IMS / Uerj. The study shows that 60% of respondents said they had been sexually assaulted.

If the proposal is approved again, it goes to the sanction of governor Luiz Fernando Pezão (PMDB). With this, it would be up to the Public Power to carry out activities of debate and reflection. The celebration would take place on June 28 of each year, a date that is already celebrated informally in various places of the world.

LAWS PUNISH ESTABLISHMENTS BY DISCRIMINATION

The state of Rio was a pioneer in Brazil in approving laws that punish establishments that discriminate and guarantee social security rights equal to homosexuals and heterosexuals.
