MP ruling says trans candidate should use social name in elections

Decision of the Public Prosecutor’s Office released today (29) says that trans candidates should use the social name in elections this year. This will be the only record that may be publicly disclosed.

The civil name, for its part, should be used only for internal administrative purposes.

“Your employment will only occur when strictly necessary to serve the public interest and safeguard the rights of third parties,” the decision states.

The opinion will be sent today to the Superior Electoral Court (TSE) and should be voted by the Electoral Court until March 5.
