The “Rio Sem Homofobia” program, launched by the social networks, launched the “Amar is a right for all” campaign by the Secretary of State for Human Rights and Policies for Women and Seniors of Rio de Janeiro (SEDHMI).
The action aims to celebrate Diversity October and draw attention to the struggle for the rights of the LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transvestite, Transsexual and Transgender) population, as well as combat gender bias.
Through the Rio No Homophobia program, the secretariat is following the case of the drag queen who was beaten with scythe blows in the municipality of São Gonçalo, metropolitan region of Rio de Janeiro. The program has put legal, social and psychological assistance available to the victim, as it usually does in the LGBT Citizenship Centers of the state. The case occurred in the dawn of last Thursday (28), in the neighborhood Trindade.
