It’s not Christmas until Starbucks drops their festive cups. This year they launched an all-inclusive campaign to race alongside their drinking glasses.
While we are accustomed to seeing gender / race / sexual diversity in ads these days, Starbucks did something slightly different and provided visibility to lesbians.
“The cup is just the beginning,” her ad begins, before cutting out several family scenes – including a same-sex couple.
It is not the first time the coffee company has advocated LGBT issues. They faced boycotts by the Malaysian and Indonesian governments regarding their support for gay rights.
In fact, Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz said in the past that he does not want same-sex opponents buying his coffee or becoming shareholders.
